Erin Mills Mississauga
HistoryErin Mills is a planned community within the City of Mississauga and is about 32 kilometres west of Toronto.
Erin Mills was created by the development corporation Cadillac Fairview when they built up over 8,000 acres of farmland. The area is diverse in it’s real estate offering. Cadillac Fairview planned for many types of residential properties, as well as commercial and retail buildings.
Aboriginal people were the first to live in the area. Eventually European settlers moved in. The nearby villages of Streetsville and Erindale supported the farming that was predominant in the area now known as Erin Mills.
E.P. Taylor was the visionary from Don Mills, just north of Toronto who started buying up farmland in the 190’s to create a “new town” which eventually became Erin Mills.
The development of the area began in the 1970’s and continued for decades in many phases.
Real EstateThere are all types of housing developments in Erin Mills from condo apartments to luxury homes. There are commercial buildings as well as a large mall Erin Mills Town Centre
There are townhouse complexes, semi-detached and detached homes. As this is a planned community there are a number of good schools in the area as well.
The most recent development in Erin Mills is Churchill Meadows. This area features a variety of housing styles from 1 bedroom apartments all the way up to large luxury homes.
